Keeper of the Vibe

Project Spaces

About Us

Welcome to Project Spaces: Founder-friendly coworking in downtown Toronto.

Since 2011 our vibrant workspaces have been home to badass businesses, and the founders that fuel them. We are a team of passionate, hardworking people who have spent the last 10+ years relentlessly going the extra mile to build a business we can be proud of.

This job is not for the faint of heart. But that’s why you’re here, isn’t it?

We are a fun, chill place to work and we take a lot of pride in that. But pull back the curtain and you’ll find a well-oiled hospitality machine with very high standards. As a member of this team, you have no interest in meeting a member’s expectations. You are here specifically to exceed them.

If that scares you, best walk away now - no hard feelings.

But if providing an award-winning experience, building a strong community, and striving to get better every day gives you goosebumps, you are in the right place, friend.

About The Role

We're looking for passionate, outgoing people to join our team, and help make every day the best day ever for our members! In this role you are the spirit of the space. You are everybody’s best friend.

You are… THE KEEPER OF THE VIBE.

What the heck does that mean? Well it means that, on top of crushing through operational check-lists each day (and performing those tasks to a high standard) you're going to spend your days immersed in our community, getting to know our incredible members. When you do that well, it makes it easy for you to connect them with other members - and that’s when the real magic happens!

People don’t just come to Project Spaces to get work done. Entrepreneurship can be difficult and lonely. They also want to make meaningful connections and have fun. That's what you're here for.

Our typical day is broken into 2 shifts: AM (8:30am-1pm) and PM (1pm-5:30pm). Your shifts will be at the Camden Street location. We're looking for people who can pick up a minimum of 3 shifts per week.

Responsibilities

1. Get in the mindset

First, it's important that you're coming into the space energized, and with a positive attitude, ready to start conversations and go above and beyond for our members. Your energy sets the tone.

2. Crush your check-lists

Each shift has 2 operational check-lists (powered by Trello) that must be completed quickly and efficiently. The goal of the check-lists is to consistently be anticipating our members' needs, so they can focus on doing what they love. This includes everything from tidying / decluttering the space, stocking the kitchens and bathrooms, making coffee and doing dishes, to stocking the printer, arranging meeting rooms, watering plants, and whatever else needs to be done. Remember, our team goes above and beyond, and we do it with a smile on our face. Things will also come up that are not on your check-lists. We need conscientious people with a high personal standard, who can take ownership of the space and think on their feet.

3. Bring the good vibes

This is the fun part. It's important that you absolutely LOVE meeting new people, and sparking conversations. Why? Because 90% of your time is going to be spent posted up in the lounge area, being everybody's best friend, and bringing the good vibes. What does that mean exactly?

First, it means that you are friendly and approachable. You are in the lounge, standing or sitting at the bar, without headphones on, ready to chat. This is not the time to scroll Instagram, unless you’re showing a member pictures from our latest event they missed. You are ON. Pour yourself a coffee or tea, and get ready to spend the rest of your shift connecting with all your favourite humans.

We’ve worked hard to automate as much of the business as possible. As such, you are here because your job cannot be done by a machine. You are the human element. You need to engage genuinely with everyone who comes through our doors. Remember, you are... THE KEEPER OF THE VIBE!

Requirements

A background in the service industry, hospitality or retail will be a big advantage. Having an interest in startups / small business, and being able to chat about a wide variety of topics, is also key. You need to be personable, and operate with a high degree of common sense. We need people who can think on their feet.
