8 Things Toronto's Entrepreneurs Are Looking Forward to Post-Lockdown

Project Spaces

The time has come! It’s finally happening!

After 15 months (which felt like an eternity), the lockdowns in Ontario are finally starting to lift. This is incredible news for our personal lives but it’s also amazing for us professionally as well.

And as we all begin to proverbially emerge from our caves and wipe the sleep from our eyes, we have a whole lot to look forward to--as well as some readjustments to make.

So, to celebrate this monumental moment in our lives, the team here at Project Spaces sat down to talk about all the things we as entrepreneurs are looking forward to post-lockdown--and we’re sure you are too!

Here’s what we came up with.

Not Having to Eat Microwaved Leftovers for Lunch Every Day

Wow, wow, wow… restaurants are opening up again and you know what that means! No more reheating days-old meals in the microwave for lunch because we didn’t have time to cook.

So long, chewy chicken!

We can finally get out into the real world for some amazing food, and spare ourselves cheffing up… whatever our kitchen skill set allows us to make.

Having an After-Work Reprieve That Isn’t In Our Living Room

Not that there’s anything wrong with having an après-work beer, cocktail, or glass of wine on the couch or balcony, but after the 60th week of it, we could use a change of scenery.

It’s going to be so nice to head out of the office and find a nice spot for a post-work reprieve.

Did someone say, “patio in the sunshine?”

Not Looking Like Yetis on Zoom Calls

Barbershops, spas, and hair and nail salons are all on the verge of reopening.

Rejoice!

We can all finally stop showing up to our Zoom calls looking like mountain people.

Pro tip: Be mindful around mirrors for the first little while--seeing a glimpse of your real self might catch you off guard once you’ve shed your pandemic aesthetic.

Turfing Our “Business On Top, Party On the Bottom” Style for Video Meetings

Speaking of Zoom calls, please remember to adjust your meeting attire accordingly when you start leaving the house for work again. The last thing you want is for muscle memory to kick in and to leave the house in raggedy sweats with your best professional attire on your upper half.

Or maybe that’ll be a post-COVID fashion trend?

It probably won’t be us that starts it, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Digging Deep Into Our Closets to Find Our Long Lost Wardrobe of Normal Clothes

While we’re on the topic of clothing, get ready to dive deep into your closet to find those long-lost “out-in-public” clothes you’ve abandoned over the last year and a quarter.

After all this time, it’s going to be a tough adjustment to remind ourselves that yoga pants aren’t necessarily office-appropriate attire (depending on where you work--they’re always welcome at Project Spaces, of course).

And we don’t know about you, but it might take us some time to figure out how to assemble an outfit again. And there’s a good chance our clothes will need some washing and ironing.

So, maybe give yourself a little extra time to get ready in the morning while you ease back into reality.

Seeing Real Humans Again

Remember what it was like to talk to your friends, colleagues, and clients in person?

Nope, neither do we.

But despite the adjustment period it’s going to take for us to re-learn how to interact in the real world again, we can’t wait to get back into our workspaces to see some real humans again.

We’ve missed you all!

Having Some Kind of Commute In Our Lives

Ahh, yes. The good old days when the pandemic started and working from home seemed like the best thing ever. Remember those?

Yup, fast forward a year, and it’s definitely lost its luster for us.

We never thought we’d hear ourselves say this, but we can’t wait to have a commute in our lives that’s longer than the bedroom to the kitchen to the desk.

Getting out into the city and having a little separation between work and home is going to be incredible.

Getting Out of Our Home Offices

It’s not just the ultra-short work-from-home commute that’s been wearing on us. After spending this much time at home, we’re ready to get out

We’re thrilled to be able to have home be home and workspace be workspace again with no overlap whatsoever.

We’ve spent so much time alone in the same four walls since last March that they’ve almost become our friends, colleagues, and collaborators… and that’s sad.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel in Ontario and we can’t wait to get to it! There are so many things to look forward to.

And if you feel like we do and you’re ready to get back to work in a new and amazing way, get in touch today and come check out Project Spaces! We’d be happy to have you join us as we collectively work on getting back to real life again.

Thank you 🙌
