Helpful Tools for Digital Nomads

Project Spaces

We define digital nomad as someone who’s able to work whenever and wherever all thanks to modern technology. Whether they’re travelling the world or working from a local coffee shop, they typically work outside of the corporate structure. If going to an office five days a week from 9 to 5 isn’t appealing to you, you may want to look into the digital nomad lifestyle. It’s not for everyone but with the right mindset, organization skills and tools it can be done. Here are some helpful tools for all the digital nomads out there.

Global Hotspot

As a digital nomad, it’s important that you have a reliable internet connection. Unfortunately, there’s no free worldwide wi-fi network yet. Until that day comes, luckily, there are Global Hotspot devices. One in particular that we’ve found useful is Skyroam.  This little orange puck gives you unlimited wi-fi no matter where you are in the world. The best part is it fits in the palm of your hand. Devices like this give you not only internet access but also peace of mind.

Electronic Cable Organizer

As aforementioned, organizational skills are essential for a digital nomad. On top of daily planners and an assortment of productivity apps, something as simple as a cable organizer can be a lifesaver. With so many different devices, it can hard to keep track of what charging cable goes with what. This is especially crucial for travelling digital nomads. Packing is made infinitely easier when all of your cables are stored properly.

Of course, every digital nomad needs digital tools. Here are our top picks for apps to help you communicate, stay connected and stay productive.

Toggl

Sometimes it feels like there are not enough hours in a day. Toggl tracks your time which in turn boosts productivity. This app helps you understand how you spend your day. By showing you what you spend the most time doing you can prioritize tasks. It additionally facilitates timesheets and invoices because you can show your employer exactly how much time you devoted to each task.

Fiverr

Fiverr is for digital nomads who are entrepreneurs and freelancers in any industry. It helps freelancers looking for work and entrepreneurs looking for workers. Talk about a win-win!

Skype

Digital nomads are known for being globetrotters. Keep in contact with business contacts, family and friends around the world with video calling on Skype. Additionally, there are options for conference calling and town halls that can accommodate up to 10,000 callers.

DuoLingo

It’s important to be able to communicate in whatever country you’re in. DuoLingo makes learn languages simple, interactive and fun. You won’t necessarily be fluent but just knowing a few phrases and questions will help you. The DuoLingo owl has your back.

Of course, having an occasional home base can be very rewarding for a digital nomad. Book a tour at one of our co-working spaces to see if it’s the right fit for you.
