The Drop-in Revolution

Neil Martin

When people think coworking or shared office, they often think of desk space (don’t worry, we have a lot of that). And of course it makes sense; desks are tangible, physical things that you can place a laptop or monitor on, pull up a chair and grind the day away. But there’s a different type of membership that we’ve been experimenting with for quite a while. It’s called the Lounge Membership and we think you might just fall in love with it.

Originally designed as the perfect alternative to the coffee shop our Lounge Membership has evolved to become so much more. It combines comfort, community and round-the-clock productivity to boost your business and your network. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect as a Project Spaces Lounge Member. Make yourself at home
All members enter through the lounge. They’re the main hustle and bustle areas of each space, and the heart of our community. You’re greeted 9-5 by one our friendly staff whose key role is knowing everything about everyone so they can help you meet the right people. Music plays in the background as you take a seat at a communal table, couch or bar - who doesn’t love working from a bar? Throw those headphone on and get after it.

Start making friends
It won’t be long before you start meeting people. The nearly 300 members of our community work in technology, design, marketing and pretty much any industry you can think of. And they’re eager to collaborate! This results in a ton of skill-sharing, and even paid projects where members will bring each other in on client work (we have a private Facebook group to help facilitate this). Christina Gonzales, a Toronto-based freelance writer, recently did a surprise drop-in day in one of our lounges and documented her experience. She not only met new people, but even walked away with a sales lead! From the article:

Here’s the thing I like about Project Spaces. It’s not fussy, and it’s run by millennials who understand that startups and independents who purchase co-working memberships want three things: networking, flexibility and learning.

Blazing-fast wifi
Coffee shops are awesome - for coffee. For wifi, not so much. We believe that a fast, reliable wifi network is so important that we’ve invested huge amounts of time and money into building (and constantly monitoring) what we believe is the best in Toronto. A bold claim? For sure. But come give our wifi a test drive and we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Caffeine for days
We take this stuff pretty seriously. On the coffee front, we’ve partnered with Sense Appeal, a local roaster who not only provides us with fresh beans but who also regularly calibrate our equipment to ensure the best cup of coffee every time. Beans are ground fresh each morning, with batches brewed throughout the day. For tea lovers, we’ve teamed up with Pluck Teas to provide a rotating assortment of organic, loose-leaf tea. And it’s all included.

Health & Dental coverage
We know that working for yourself isn’t just about being productive; it’s about being happy and healthy too. That’s why, in October 2015, we were very excited to finally announce our Health & Dental Plan, exclusively for Project Spaces members! Over a year in the making, the plan has superior coverage at a rate far below the competition. Lounge Members are eligible after three months. Learn more.

Events on events
On top of being great workspaces, our lounges play host to a ton of awesome events designed to help you meet people in the community, learn new things, or even just have fun. A few examples include monthly member happy hours, workshops and panel discussions, and social outings. As a member, you’ll have free access to all of them! We also regularly partner with brands and community groups to host special events in the lounges.

Services on-demand
Included with a Lounge Membership are discounted rates for mailing service, meeting rooms, locker storage, event bookings and a slew of other perks. Add or remove these services easily and on-the-fly as you need them. Need a locker for just 2-months? Got it. Client coming by last minute and you need a meeting room? Got it. Need a place to host your app’s launch party, a social for your team or an investor pitch? Got it, got it, got it.

24/7 access
The best part? You never have to stop working - ever. Of course you should take breaks. But what if you need to Skype with your team in a different time-zone? No problem. Or maybe you have a pile of work to do and need to grind it out over the weekend. Easy peasy. Whether you’re a startup prepping for that big pitch, or a freelancer on a deadline, 24/7 access is key.

Founder-friendly terms
Whether you think you might go traveling for a few months, or just aren’t sure if your startup will work out (who is, right?) - have no fear, we’re all about flexibility. No scary commitments, just a first and last month when you join ($200/month) and you’re free to leave any time with one-month notice. Rest easy, young entrepreneur.

Think the Lounge Membership might be for you?

Come give it a try for a day, no charge! The wifi is fast and the coffee is free - you can’t go wrong. Either book a tour or contact Neil directly at n@projectspac.es

Thank you 🙌
