How to Spend Valentine’s Day in Toronto

Project Spaces

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and the city is about to light up with lovers making the most of this charming occasion. Thankfully, there are plenty of things to do during this celebration of love in Toronto, and impressing your date is definitely doable with so many options. If you’re feeling the love this Valentine’s Day, here are six ways to spend it in the 6ix!

1. Take in the Displays at the Toronto Lights Festival

February 14th is set to be a chilly day with the weather forecast predicting a low of -16 degrees Celsius at nighttime, but if you can bear the cold, the Toronto Lights Festival is well worth it. Taking place in the historic Distillery District, these dazzling light displays will sweep you off your feet free of charge. Plus, some of the city’s best restaurants and bars are in that area!

2. Revel in Romance at Ripley’s Aquarium

Love is in the air and under the sea at Ripley’s Aquarium this V-Day! For $60+HST, you get to enjoy live music by The Digs and DJ Kyrei, food stations, cash bars, and views that’ll make this special day one for the books at their Deep Sea Soirée.

3. Soak in the Day at the Spa

A little romance and relaxation never hurt anyone, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for you and your partner to escape to a spa retreat. Located in downtown Toronto, Elmwood Spa is offering special packages in celebration of the big day, and they have plenty of Couples Rooms available that can accommodate you and your significant other. Check out their website for package prices and other deals you might want to take advantage of.

4. Wine and Dine with Your Loved One

Toronto is known for its stellar eateries and, as always, they are stepping up to the plate so that you can have the perfect date. From prix fixe menus that include succulent striploin at Momofoku Kojin to tucking into Portuguese delights at Mercado Negro to fresh pasta and wine at Nodo, the sky’s the limit when wining and dining in the big city.

5. Get Your Hot Cocoa Fix

You can’t go wrong with some hot chocolate on a cold day, and if you’re looking to go on a more casual date this Valentine’s Day Cacao 70 is a great go-to. With sweet houses that carry hot cocoa and decadent desserts all over the city, Cacao 70 is a surefire way to satisfy your sweet tooth.

6. Hit Up the Skating Rink

Ice skating is known as a quintessential Canadian winter activity, but it’s also a great idea for a Valentine’s Day first date (especially if you’re looking for an excuse to hold the other person’s hand). There are quite a few skating rinks you can go to in Toronto, and whether you head on over to the Barbara Ann Scott Skating Trail, the Union Station rink or the iconic Nathan Phillips Square, you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a good time!

At Project Spaces, we’re also hoping to spread the love this season by offering Torontonians the opportunity to give their hustle a home at our coworking spaces located in the heart of downtown.
